WHY DO YOU NEED TO CHANGE THE AIR FILTER IN YOUR DYSON VACUUM?
The air filter is one of the hardest working parts of your Dyson vacuum. Every time you turn your vacuum on, air passes through the filter, capturing microscopic particulate matter.
Over time, air filters become dirty or even clogged and can cause the motor in your Dyson to overheat and ultimately break down. If that happens, you may need a vacuum repair service.
DYSON VACUUM AIR FILTER REPLACEMENT FAQS
Here are some of the most commonly asked questions about Dyson vacuums and their air filters. If you don’t see your question listed here, feel free to get in touch with us.
HOW DO I RESET MY DYSON VACUUM CLEANER AFTER CHANGING THE FILTER?
Once the filter has been replaced or cleaned, it should be ready to work for you. Just turn on your vacuum cleaner. If it wasn’t running before and it runs now, the problem is fixed. If the vacuum cleaner still struggles to pull through airflow, it may not turn on or continue to run slowly. In either case, your filter may need further cleaning or may need to be completely replaced.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU CHANGE THE AIR FILTER ON A DYSON VACUUM?
There’s no hard and fast rule as to how often the air filter should be replaced or cleaned on a Dyson vacuum cleaner. It depends entirely on usage. If you use your Dyson vacuum frequently, you will likely need to replace your filter more often than someone who uses theirs sparingly. The kind of particulate you’re vacuuming can also affect the status of the filter. Some fine particulate types can quickly clog a filter and necessitate immediate cleaning or replacement.
HOW DO I KNOW IF MY DYSON FILTER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED?
This all comes down to performance. If your Dyson vacuum is running well with good suction, your filter is probably fine. If your vacuum is struggling for power, there’s a good chance something is impeding airflow and your filter should be one of the first places you check. If your filter is completely blocked, your Dyson vacuum won’t run. It will turn on and off in rapid succession, signaling to you there’s a problem with the filter.
