How to change a Riccar vacuum bag

R27 uprights (top-loading bag)

  1. Unplug the vacuum
  2. Press the bag button on the back and open the lid
  3. Lift the used bag out by its collar ring
  4. Drop a new bag in, collar lined up at the top
  5. Close the lid until it latches

Change it monthly or when the full-bag light comes on. Flour or drywall dust can clog a bag early: change it anyway. Never reuse a bag.

SupraLite and Tandem Air (zip-up bag)

  1. Unplug, then unzip the bag compartment
  2. Pull the bag tab outward
  3. Seal the used bag and lift it out
  4. Slide a new bag into the grooves until it snaps
  5. Zip the compartment closed

Match the collar color: green on the SupraLite, blue on the R30, yellow on the R40. SupraLites: change it at 2/3 full.

SupraQuik portable canister

  1. Unplug it and turn it upside down
  2. Lift the retaining clip and take off the cover
  3. Swap the bag, arrow on the card toward the top
  4. Change the charcoal filter yearly or every 12 bags
  5. Refit the cover and close the latch

Riccar vacuum belts

SupraLites use the ULW-B2 belt. To change it:

  1. Unplug it and turn the vacuum over
  2. Press the two tabs and lift off the bottom plate
  3. Lift out the brushroll and the old belt
  4. Loop the new belt around the motor shaft and the brushroll
  5. Refit the brushroll, spin it by hand, then refit the plate

Check belts for stretching, cracks or slipping. A burning smell often means a slipping belt. R27, 30 and 40 Series: bring it in, and we replace the belt: a quick, low-cost fix. Riccar repair →

  • R40: RF40G, a new set after 25 hours (filter light)

  • R65: RF65, wash monthly, replace every 6–12 months
  • R70: RF70 dry filter; rinse the wet sponge filter

Riccar says other bags and parts can hurt cleaning and may void the warranty. Ours are genuine Riccar.
